Receive Only antennas are important equipment for communication and broadcasting, and are suitable for various wireless communication systems. Correct installation can not only improve signal quality, but also extend the service life of the equipment. Recently, we are producing a batch of 5 sets of 3.7 meters receive only antennas and 9 sets of 4.5 meters receive only antennas for customers. During this period, we tested and installed 1 set of 4.5 meters antennas at our workshop, which operates well. Taking the 4.5-meter receive only antenna as an example, this article will introduce the steps and precautions for installing Receive Only antennas in detail.
Before installing the Receive Only antenna, please prepare the following materials and tools.
- Unpacking and Inspection
Before installing the antenna, you must first unpack and inspect each component of the antenna, and check whether each component and standard part are complete according to the packing list. During the use of the antenna, any deformation of the component may affect the performance of the antenna, so if you find that any component is missing or damaged or deformed during transportation, you should contact us in time for replacement before installation.

2.1 Installation precautions
- Refer to the packing list during the installation process, open the box according to the part you need, and do not open all of them. If the box has been opened, be sure to put away the parts that have not been used to prevent loss.
- When installing standard parts, pay attention to the diagonal screws when there are multiple installation points, and do not install them randomly. And the screws cannot be tightened one by one. After all the screws at this installation point are installed, tighten them one by one along the diagonal line.
- When operating on the reflector, people should wear soft-soled shoes and step on the connecting ribs between the reflector Do not step in the middle of the reflectorto avoid excessive force on the reflector and deformation.
- Receive Only antennaInstallation steps
3.1 Choose the installation site
- Make sure the antenna is installed in an open area, avoiding obstacles such as tall buildings and trees.
- Based on the antenna’s directivity, choose the appropriate direction (usually toward the signal source)
3.2 Pour the foundation according to the foundation drawing and wait 15-20 days
3.3 Antenna installation guidance
3.3.1. Reflector assembly
STEP 1: Connect 12 radiation beams with hub
STEP 2: Connect the outer tie rods
STEP 3: Panels assembly
Connection of feed support rod and support feet
STEP 4: Connect the inner tie rods
3.3.2 Feed system installation
STEP 5: Connect feed with 4 support rods(feed and feed clamp)
4.5m receive only antenna feed system
STEP 6: Connect 4 support rods of feed on the panels
Feed support rod and feed clamp connection
STEP 7: Adjust distance between feed and hub
Antenna reflector assembled
3.3.3 Kingpost Assembly
Step 8 Lift kingpost on the foundation
- Antenna operation
- Antenna azimuth angle adjustment
- Antenna elevation angle adjustment
- Antenna polarization angle adjustment
Based on the signal test results, use a protractor and level to adjust the antenna’s angle.
Make sure the antenna is facing the direction of the best signal source.
After installation, use a signal test device to check the antenna’s signal strength.
Make fine adjustments as needed to ensure the best signal quality.
- Antenna system alignment
After determining the elevation and azimuth of the antenna, use the compass to align the elevation, loosen the azimuth adjustment, turn the antenna azimuth to align it with the satellite, and adjust the azimuth and elevation according to the received signal.
Note: Make sure that the center of the antenna beam points to the satellite rather than the side lobe. Please pay attention to the following points when using:
When the wind speed is greater than 216km/h, the antenna must be in an inoperative state to ensure safety.
- Daily maintenance of antenna
- Antenna use precautions
- Fastener maintenance
- Surface coating maintenance
- Lubricating oil maintenance of the rotating system
- Maintenance of antenna equipment
After the antenna system is installed, the antenna system should be in a safe state.
When abnormal sounds or situations occur, the antenna system should be turned off immediately until the fault is eliminated. Under normal working conditions, the Receive Only antenna should be regularly inspected and maintained, and the service life of the antenna should be at least 10 years.
Notes
- During the installation process, pay attention to safety and make sure to use appropriate protective equipment.
- If you need to work at height, make sure to use a safety belt and support equipment.
Refer to the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer to ensure that the requirements of the specific model are met.
- Check the seal regularly to ensure that the antenna works properly for a long time.
Installing a Receive Only antenna is an important task. Following the above steps can ensure the normal operation of the equipment and the best transmission of signals. Regular maintenance and inspection can also help extend the life of the antenna. If you have any questions, please consult a Antesky.
