Analysis of The Current Status of Low-Orbit Satellites (LEO)
ESA is adding a new 4.5m “acquisition aid” to its current New Norcia, Western Australia, tracking station. It has been ready to catch the first signals from new launched missions. This new antenna can acquire and track during new missions’ critical initial orbits, whose range can be up to about 100 000 km. It can also control a much bigger antenna with 35m diameter, which can search ranging data and telemetry signals as well as on-board status information from the newly launched spacecraft.
