We shipped 1 set of 3.7m Tx/Rx antenna with Ku-band to Mauritania this March. Customer installed this 3.7m Tx/Rx antenna at their site in April , and after they done the installation, they met below problems during their testing, which the cross polarization are always fluctuating between 21dB to 25dB.

After communication, firstly we get that there are some problems for the foundation and support legs during 3.7m Tx/Rx antenna installation.

1. Problems for the foundation and support legs

From photo you can see that customer put the 2 legs not on 2 sides of the kingpost,

So we sent the normal drawing of 3.7m tx/rx antenna to them again, which is point to the satellite client use.

Here we’d like to ask all the customers to note the antenna foundation direction when you begin to build the antenna foundation, if you choose the antenna pedestal has a limit moving range, please note to build the antenna foundation facing to the Satellite you will use.

If in the future you will change the direction, and you need to face the antenna to a big range that you can point to many Satellites, or you can ask the antenna manufacture to make the antenna pedestal as Az 0-360deg.

Finally customer install the support legs properly as per the drawing we sent. And they sent us email and photos for checking again. Now the foundation is ready and correct.

2. Problems of Cross Pol. Isolation fluctuating of 3.7m Tx/Rx antenna

For the problems of Cross Pol. Isolation fluctuating and can’t be get to the required value, please kindly check and analyze the problems from below 4 aspects:

2.1 Have you pointed to the Satellite precisely? User must assure the antenna is correctly aiming to the Satellite and get the Max signal.

2.2 Please assure your antenna reflector is properly installed based on the user’s manual, below is our Antesky 3.7m antenna reflector installation notice points, kindly check for your reference.

Assemble the antenna reflector according to following steps.

Step 1: install the position pin firstly;

Step 2: Install the screws while please do not fasten them;

Step 3: Tighten the screws of all reflectors;

Users must strictly follow these three steps in the installation process, otherwise the accuracy of the whole reflector will be affected, resulting in the cross polarization isolation not meeting the needs of satellite companies.

2.3 Are metal foreign bodies in the feed or waveguide that are not cleaned, so you need to do the check and assure these parts are clear.

2.4 Is the Max signal is the real Max signal, if it’s not but side lobe, like below details.

Please get the Max signal as per the below methods .

After our engineer’s guidance, the customer’s engineer team finally get a good result for the Cross Pol. Isolation with 32dB.
