The 1.8m Portable XY Axis Pedestal Antenna is a parabolic antenna with an X-Y pedestal steering mechanism. It adopts a modular design and is mainly composed of five parts: reflector system, support structure, X-Y pedestal steering mechanism, feed system and control system. Its innovative X-Y axis steering mechanism replaces the traditional azimuth-elevation structure to achieve racking without blind spots. It is specially designed for satellite communications (such as maritime, emergency communications, military mobile stations, etc.) and has both high gain and portability.
- Features of Portable XY Axis Pedestal Antenna
1.1 Advanced X-Y pedestal mechanism
- X axis (horizontal) and Y axis (vertical) dual axis pedestal mechanism, replacing the traditional azimuth-elevation (Az-El) structure, avoiding the “keyhole effect” (signal blind spot) of the antenna when tracking high elevation satellites.
- Advantages: Full airspace coverage, especially suitable for high latitude areas or polar orbit satellite tracking.
1.2 Portable design
- Detachable structure: split-flap reflector or folding design for easy transportation (such as vehicle or air transport).
- Lightweight material: carbon fiber or aluminum alloy reflector, 30%-50% lighter than traditional antennas.
- Quick deployment: one or two people to complete assembly and calibration within 30 minutes.
1.3 Strong environmental adaptability
- Wind resistance: Stable operation under level 7 wind (about 17m/s), and can be folded under level 10 wind (24m/s).
- Protection level: IP65 and above, rainproof and salt sprayproof (suitable for use at sea)
- Typical application scenarios Portable XY Axis Pedestal Antenna
- Emergency communication: quickly establish satellite links at disaster sites
- Military mobile stations: covert communications of field troops or data transmission from drones.
- Scientific research/exploration: real-time data transmission in remote areas such as polar regions and deserts.
- Live news broadcast: remote high-definition video transmission by media teams (such as SNG vehicles).
The 1.8m XY axis automatic portable station antenna can quickly receive satellite signals. The antenna has an equivalent aperture of 1.8m and has the characteristics of multi-function, high performance, and high automation integration.
The antenna system consists of a feed subsystem, a structural subsystem, a servo control tracking system, and supporting cables. The system composition is shown in the figure below.
Components and packages display of Portable XY Axis Pedestal Antenna
This May, we sold out 2 sets of Portable XY Axis Pedestal Antennas with KU&KA band. We tested and debugged before leaving our factory.
Here we will share more details for the antenna composition and installation details below. There are total 3 installation steps briefly. Also, you can click the installation video of 1.8m Portable XY Axis Pedestal Antenna.
Step 1: Support leg installation
Take out the kingpost and support leg. Fix the support leg on the kingpost according to the position, and lock the two locking handles of the support leg. At the same time, lock the pull rod on the support leg and the pull rod on the kingpost with nuts.
Step 2: Turntable installation
Take out turntable and place it on top of support kingpost, insert it into the positioning hole and lock all handles of kingpost. Then power on antenna and restore the position of antenna turntable to 0° on X axis and 0° on Y axis.
Turntable installation
Step 3: Antenna reflector and feed installation
3.1 Reflector center plate installation
Take out the center plate, place it on the turntable connecting plate, and fix the center plate on the turntable from the back using the non-detachable handle. As shown in the figure below;
3.2 8 petals of panels assemble
Take out 8 panels. Install the 8 petals in the order and fasten locking handles.
3.3 Two Beidou installation
Aligning two Beidou installation holes on both sides of antenna reflector then fasten locking handles.
3.4 Assembly of the feed and support rod
Take out feed mount and feed, place feed at designated position and lock it with locking handle, then take out the support rod and connect support rod head to support rod fixture.
3.5 Feed installation
Align the installation positions between side of panels and feed assembled kits and then fasten the locking handles.
Above is the introduction and installation o Portable XY Axis Pedestal Antenna. We hope you can learn something useful.
